YAQEEN YAMANI

Yaqeen Yamani (b. 1997, Jericho) is a Palestinian photographer and visual artist. She holds a BA in Media Studies and Film from Al-Quds Bard College and is a Fulbright Scholar, currently pursuing her MFA in Photography at the Tyler School of Art and Architecture, Temple University. Her multidisciplinary practice spans photography, video, and text-based art, with a focus on memory, archives, and experimental approaches to image making. A grantee of the Arab Documentary Program, supported by Magnum Foundation, Prince Claus Fund, and AFAC.

Her series Suitcase is a performance-photography project inspired by Sliman Mansour’s iconic painting, The Camel of Hardship, created in the 1970s. By reinterpreting the symbolic imagery, Yamani examines themes of displacement and the ongoing toll of exile on the Palestinian identity. The series bridges past and present, reflecting the enduring weight of Mansour’s message in contemporary contexts.
