May Murad is a visual artist, born in Gaza in 1984. Her work is shaped by her lived experience in Gaza. She received a degree in fine arts from Al-Aqsa University in 2006 and later earned a master’s degree in the geopolitics of art and culture from Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris.
Murad’s practice, which is based on drawing, painting, and mixed media, explores themes of identity, exile, confinement, and resilience. Her work reflects her belief that artists in Gaza do not merely document hardship but actively seek meaning within life under siege.
In addition to solo and group exhibitions in Palestine, Murad has held solo exhibitions in Paris, including Réalité Virtuelle at the Cité Internationale des Arts (2021) and Digital Residence at Europia Gallery (2019). Her group exhibitions have been presented at major institutions, including the Palais de Tokyo (2024), Musée d’Art Contemporain de Montpellier (2022), and the Institut du Monde Arabe (2023). She has participated in several artistic residencies, including at the Higher Art School of Annecy (2021), the Cité Internationale des Arts (2021), and the Dufraine Foundation (2019–2020). She is currently based in Paris,
