JACK PERSEKIAN

Jack Persekian is currently the director of the Black Gold Museum in Riyadh. Previously, Persekian held the position of Founding Director of the Sharjah Art Foundation and Artistic Director of the Sharjah Biennial from 2004 to 2011. After that he held the position of Director and Head Curator of the Palestinian Museum from 2012 to 2015. He was the founder and director of Al Ma’mal Foundation from 1998 to 2003 and 2016 to 2022, Artistic Director of The Jerusalem Show from 2007 to 2018 and Qalandiya International from 2012 to 2014.

Persekian’s exhibitions and projects include: The Hejaz Railway in Palestine, A.M. Qattan Foundation; Under the Tower, with artist Els Vanden Meersch at the Medewerker – Cultuurcentrum Ter Vesten – Beveren, Belgium; Past Tense, at the Birzeit University Museum; The Khalidi Library: Knowledge, Place and Time – Inaugural exhibition; After Matson, W.F. Albright Institute of Archaeological Research; Nablus Soap performances at the Beirut Art Center; Abu Dhabi Art (with Tarek Atoui); ICA London; Hammer Museum – LA, MIT – Boston; The New Museum – NY; Rote Fabrik – Zurich; Darat Al Funun – Amman; Artspace – Sydney; the Adelaide Festival of Arts, Australia; Wall of Soap, at the World Economic Forum, the Dead Sea, Jordan. Persekian is recipient of the Order of Culture, Science and Arts, Innovation level, from the State of Palestine (2016).
