Haneen Nazzal is a versatile visual artist, animator, graphic designer, and illustrator who operates between Palestine and Tunisia. Her artistic practice is deeply rooted in exploring the role of art in liberation movements and the preservation of indigenous identity. Haneen earned a BA in Architecture from Al-Najah National University in Nablus in 2014. However, after four years of practicing architecture, she decided to pivot towards her true passion in visual arts.
Nazzal’s multidisciplinary approach incorporates illustration, animation, 3D art and graphic design. Her work reflects a profound commitment to using art as a tool for resistance and advocacy. Through various initiatives and collaborations with community organizations, she actively promotes decolonization, social justice, and human rights, striving to foster a comprehensive understanding of the Palestinian cause, always seeking to make a difference through her work.
Her art has recently gained prominence, especially in relation to the 2021 Palestinian uprising, where her illustrations became a significant voice in the defense of Palestinian rights. Nazzal views graphic arts as a strong medium to support the Palestinian struggle for freedom and justice, and her work serves as both a form of resistance and a means to amplify the voices of those advocating for change.
By engaging with community organizations and participating in various activist projects, she creates art that not only challenges dominant narratives but also enriches the public’s understanding of the Palestinian experience. She is an activist that has committed herself and her work to human rights and social justice. The cause is evident in every piece she creates, reflecting her dedication to raising awareness and advocating for a just resolution to the Palestinian cause. In January 2024, Haneen Nazzal participated in the ‘Posters for Gaza‘ project by contributing two posters, an exhibition launched by Zawyeh Gallery in Dubai.
