Zawyeh Gallery is a contemporary art gallery dedicated to representing established and emerging artists from Palestine and the wider region. Through exhibitions, publications, art fairs, and international collaborations, the gallery works to promote contemporary artistic practices and connect artists with audiences worldwide.

About the Role

Zawyeh Gallery is seeking a creative, organised, and proactive Design and Digital Content Creator to join our team in Ramallah. This role is primarily a creative position focused on graphic design, photography, videography, and digital content creation.

In addition to these core responsibilities, the successful candidate will support exhibition preparation, artist communications, inventory management, public relations, and the day-to-day operations of the gallery. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in the contemporary art sector while applying and developing their creative skills in a professional gallery environment.

Core Responsibilities

Design & Visual Content

  • Design exhibition catalogues, invitations, brochures, presentations, PDFs, and other print and digital materials.
  • Design promotional graphics and visual assets for exhibitions, publications, and gallery announcements.
  • Develop creative layouts that reflect the gallery's visual identity.
  • Prepare artwork layouts and exhibition materials for print and digital use.

Photography, Videography & Digital Content

  • Photograph artworks, exhibitions, gallery spaces, installation processes, events, and artist visits.
  • Produce and edit high-quality photography and video content for publications, the gallery website, and digital platforms.
  • Create engaging Reels, Stories, and other short-form video content.
  • Prepare visual content for exhibitions, publications, and gallery announcements.
  • Maintain a well-organised archive of photography and video assets.

Additional Responsibilities

Artist Communications & Exhibition Coordination

  • Communicate with artists regarding exhibitions, artworks, and gallery requirements.
  • Coordinate artwork information, documentation, and exhibition preparation.
  • Assist with planning, installing, and deinstalling exhibitions.
  • Prepare artwork labels, checklists, and exhibition documents.
  • Support exhibition openings, artist events, and other gallery programmes.

Inventory, Website & Online Platforms

  • Maintain and update the gallery's inventory system, ensuring accurate artwork records.
  • Upload artworks, exhibitions, and content to the gallery website and online platforms.
  • Coordinate website updates with the gallery's web developer.

Public Relations

  • Assist with press releases, exhibition promotion, and media materials.
  • Support communication with cultural institutions, media contacts, and gallery partners.
  • Contribute to initiatives that strengthen the gallery's public profile.

Gallery Operations & Administration

  • Welcome and assist visitors, collectors, artists, and guests.
  • Support the day-to-day administrative and operational activities of the gallery.
  • Assist with reception duties when required.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and professional gallery environment.

Ideal Candidate

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Creative, proactive, and eager to learn.
  • Passionate about contemporary art, design, photography, and visual storytelling.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Professional and confident when interacting with artists, collectors, and visitors.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a small team.
  • Flexible to occasionally work evenings or weekends during exhibition openings and special events.
  • Fluent in English and Arabic.

Proficiency in the following is required:

What You'll Learn

Working closely with the gallery team, you will gain hands-on experience in areas unique to the contemporary art world, including:

  • Professional art handling, including the safe installation, deinstallation, packing, and movement of artworks.
  • Exhibition planning, preparation, and installation.
  • Working directly with artists throughout the exhibition process.
  • Artwork inventory management and documentation using professional gallery standards.
  • Preparing artworks for exhibitions, loans, and shipping.
  • Managing artwork condition reports and exhibition documentation.
  • Understanding the day-to-day operations of a contemporary art gallery.
  • Building relationships with artists, collectors, curators, institutions, and cultural professionals.
  • Gaining insight into gallery exhibitions, art fairs, and the wider contemporary art industry.
