Ahmad Kanaan was born in Tamra, Al-Jalil (Palestine) in 1965, and has lived there ever since. Between 1984 – 1985 he studied painting in Tamra and continued his studies at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem, where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1989. In 2009, Ahmad received a Diploma in Museum Studies from Tel Aviv University.
Ahmad taught sculpture at the Arab Institute for Continuing Studies, Sakhnin from 1999 to 2006. He founded, directed and was the curator of the municipal gallery, Tamra, from 2004 to 2010. Ahmad taught art in Nazareth College in 2009, and in 2010 – 2011 he was the curator of the Jaffa Salon of Palestinian Art.
Since 1989 Ahmad has participated in many group and solo exhibitions. He exhibited all through Palestine, and in Oman, Germany, Japan, Jordan, Korea, USA, Moscow, St. Petersburg, France, Wales, Poland, England, Egypt, Qatar, Dubai, Hungary, and Greece.
Ahmad has participated in significant international painting and sculpture symposiums, including in Amman, Jordan in 2002, Saarland, Germany 2005, Nikia, Greece in 2006, Moscow, Merzig, Germany and Konya, Turkey in 2010, Sharm Alshekh ,Egypt in 2012, Fes ,Morocco, Dubai, U.A.E and Turkey in 2013.
